Phurba is a "magic dart" used especially for the ritual slaying of human effigy of foe. A phurpa is triple sided Ritual Dagger, nail or knife implement traditionally associated with Buddhism tradition. The tantric use of the phurba encompasses the curing of diseases, exorcism, killing demons, meditation, consecrations and weather making. The blade of phurba is used for the destruction of demonic powers. The top end of the phurba is used by the tantrikas for blessings. It is regarded as possessing magical powers, and is an essential artifact used in Buddhist practices and as powerful weapon which subdues evil spirits and negative energies-transforming them into positive forces.
Therefore Phurba is not a physical weapon, but a spiritual implement.
